Every pupil at Tidemill was given a copy of the map and links to the audio tour clips.
Teachers were asked to listen to teh audio clips and devise age appropriate responses and tasks for their pupils.
Each pupil at Tidemill took a map and their tasks home as their summer holidays project.
below are all the taks collcted from different maps for different year groups.
The best thing you can do is download the audio clips, put them on your phone or MP3 and go on the tour with you family or friends
If you go on the tour—use your map to record what you did; take photos and stick them to your map, collect things and stick them to your map, write a story about your tour over the top of your map… be creative.
If you can’t get to Deptford to do the tour here are some more ideas for your summer project.
Years 1 + 2
1 - listen to the audio clip about ‘Adventure Playground’. If you lived on the Adventure playground and you could make your own clothes or a mask—what would they be like?
2 - listen to the audio recording of ‘Deptford Beach’ make a treasure chest and fill it with treasure!
Year 3 + 4
1 - listen to the audio recording of ‘Peter the Great’. If you were a great explorer what would your ship be like? Design the perfect ship for adventures on the high seas
2 - listen to the audio recording about ‘Deptford Beach’ . Write a story about a pirate living in Deptford in 2012.
Year 5
1 - visit Deptford Market—can you find an item for every letter of the alphabet? - make a book of drawings, one page for each letter
2 - listen to the audio recording of ‘Deptford High street and places to eat’ - can you write an adventure story set in the market?
Year 6
1 - listen to the audio about ‘the Anchor’ - write a story and illustrate a story about how the Anchor got there.
2 - The Anchor is said to represent Deptford. If you were asked to replace the Anchor with a sculpture, what would you make that would represent Deptford? You can draw your idea of make a small model.
Here is a selection of some of the summer projects that cane back to school after the summer break.
